SYNOPSIS<\/p>\n
chsh [-s shell] [-l] [-u] [-v] [username]<\/p>\n
DESCRIPTION<\/p>\n
chsh is used to change your login shell.\u00a0 If a shell is not given on
\nthe command line, chsh prompts for one.<\/p>\n
chsh supports non-local entries (kerberos, LDAP, etc.) if linked with
\nlibuser, otherwise use ypchsh, lchsh or any other implementation for
\nnon-local entries.<\/p>\n
OPTIONS<\/p>\n
-s, –shell shell
\nSpecify your login shell.<\/p>\n
-l, –list-shells
\nPrint the list of shells listed in \/etc\/shells and exit.<\/p>\n
-u, –help
\nDisplay help text and exit.<\/p>\n
-v, –version
\nDisplay version information and exit.<\/p>\n
VALID SHELLS<\/p>\n
chsh will accept the full pathname of any executable file on the
\nsystem.\u00a0 However, it will issue a warning if the shell is not listed
\nin the \/etc\/shells file.\u00a0 On the other hand, it can also be
\nconfigured such that it will only accept shells listed in this file,
\nunless you are root.<\/p>\n
EXIT STATUS<\/p>\n
Returns 0 if operation was successful, 1 if operation failed or
\ncommand syntax was not valid.<\/p>\n
